Warm Honey Lemon Water with Ginger

For the throaty front man, a cup of warm water, honey, and lemon provides sweet, comforting thermal relief. The warm water helps increase circulation and relax muscle function in the mouth and throat, while the honey coats and calms swelling as the lemon loosens mucus buildup.

Raw honey, well known as a soothing ingredient in holistic medicinal remedies, is proven to be an anti-bacterial and anti-fungal remedy to reduce irritation. I recommend purchasing a raw local honey, but if you opt for an alternative, be sure it is free of artificial ingredients and additives. Lemon has naturally occurring anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties to help fend off free radicals in the body. Ginger root, when peeled, thinly sliced and dropped into the warm water, provides extra anti-inflammatory effects. Make as a pot for the whole gang, and enjoy extras during the week.

1 pot boiled water (7 cups, 56 ounces)
1/2 organic lemon sliced
1/2 organic lemon juiced
3 Tbsp. fresh ginger root peeled and thinly sliced
3 Tbsp. raw or local honey

1.  Boil water in sauce pot.
2.  Once water has reached boiling point add sliced lemons, lemon juice and ginger.
3.  Turn off heat and let steep for 5 minutes.
4.  Stir in honey.
5.  Pour into cups and serve.

Instead of using fresh lemon consider adding doTERRA lemon oil. All the benefits of the real thing condensed into a tight little package. Remember, a little bit goes a long way so add one drop at a time.
